ANGLES AND SHOTS

High angle: high-angle shot is a cinematic technique where the camera looks down on the subject from a high angle and the point of focus often gets "swallowed up".

Low angle:   is a shot from a camera angle positioned low on the vertical axis, anywhere below the eye line, looking up. This angle looks up on something or someone making it look bigger than it really is. It is the opposite of a high angle. It is commonly used in TV shows.

Slanted angle: shows an object or someone from an unnatural point of view. It can be used ina drama to show things only the audience can see. The horizon line of the shot is not parallel with the bottom of the camera frame.

Eye level: shows the object of the picture looking directly at you, this shows that he or she has the same amount of power as you.

Aerial shot: is a shot of a scene or photo taken from a higher vantage point than what is being filmed.

Close up shot: are used to imply intimacy between the characters or between the character and the audience. It is used to reveal the character's thoughts and feelings.

Long shot: Takes apicture from distance, it shows a whole setting. It could be used to show a full scene or an actors full body. Typically shows the entire object or human figure and is usually intended to place it in some relation to its surroundings.

Medium shot: is a camera angle shot from a medium distance. Is usually from the targets head down to his or her torso. This to show the targets body as well as there face.
Wide Shot: usually includes a lot of visual information for the audience to 'set the scene'. Usually shot with a wide angle lens.
Two shot:  is a type of shot in which the frame encompasses a view of two people (the subjects). Is mostly used in TV dramas where it shows friends side by side.
Point of view: shot shows the view point of an actor. You can usually see the actors feet or hands in the picture so that you know straight away what sort of shot it is.

SEBASTIAO SALGADO - GENESIS

NATURE IN ITS PURE STATE

The other day we went with those from the institute to Girona to see an exhibition of Sebastiao Salgado. I was expecting the typical exhibition of nice photos that left you indifferent, but to my surprise, the images were amazing.
Sebastiao Salgado is a photographer born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, about 73 years old. He studied economics and worked on it until 1973, when he decided that he wanted to dedicate himself to photography.

All the photographs that were in the exhibition that we went to see were incredible, but there was an in particular that caught my attention:

Western Highlands. Papua New Guinea

Resultat d'imatges de sebastiao salgado genesis

Everything and that this image is made in 2008, transports you to a remote time, where everything was just as nature had created it, without any change or modification. The image shows how, in a totally primitive situation, this man manages to camouflage himself and be part of the nature where he lives. It shows the true instinct of survival and adaptation, where a human can become a plant so that large predators do not eat it, or to pass unnoticed among the victims who will provide food.
It shows us that over time we have been changing everything, destroying everything natural in our way to create a material world in which we need more and more things that really are not important.
It seems strange to me that we are shocked to see a photo like that of this man, in which nature sees itself, as we were and lived for thousands of years, without realizing that we are really strange are us, dependent on each other, with our advanced technology and our totally artificial way of life.
